Yes He is inconvenient! Now you may say this is no way to talk about the loving Almighty God. But you are mistaken. I praise Him in saying this. In this statement I confirm that His power is at work in me. My mind wants to wander into sinfulness today. Yet as it tries fervently, God’s word invades my thoughts. I say invades because His word was uninvited today and at the moment not necessarily desired. His word is like a commander and his army entering into a country so as to subjugate or occupy it. That country is me. He is seizing me by invasion of His word! Sometimes I want to explore my own sinful thoughts and thus the inconvenience! So His word and Promise is true. “He who belongs to God hears what God says…” (John 8:45 NIV). I hear! Thank the Lord that I have eyes to see and ears to hear.
I am confident that I am His because if I were not, I would not recognize the contradiction within me that is spoken of in Galations 16-17. It says “…live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature.” The Holy Spirit is shouting to me in the midst of my thoughts reminding me to whom I belong. “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: ‘be holy, because I am holy.'” (1 Peter 1:13 NIV).
