In this age there are so many bad things to set our eyes upon. I know first hand. Tonight I ran across this verse.
“Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.” (Prov. 27:20)
Read that again, then sit back and think on what your eyes feast on. For some it is the opposite sex or perhaps even the same sex. Others may feast upon what people have and long in their hearts to possess it for themselves. After all, isn’t that the root of all evil? Wanting for ourselves what others have? Consider the prince of lies and how he fell from his high place with God. Why did he fall? Because in his heart and presumably with his eyes, he lusted for what God had.
People who currently struggled or have in the past struggled with sexual feasting with the eyes have all at one time thought, “I’ll just take one look at this”. Or perhaps “just one more glance”. The problem is that one look turns into many and still after many looks we continue to say just one more. Why? Read the proverb once more.
The only way out of this trap, is to turn away and run!
